When it comes to photographing kids, burst (continuous) mode is my friend! It’s a great way to capture multiple shots for a fun storyboard, but mostly it’s my secret to capturing the perfect shot of an always moving target. Once my focus is locked on my tiny subject, I keep my finger on the shutter at all time so that I don’t miss a moment. I knew I had my work cut out for me when faced with the challenge of photographing three rambunctious boys at my latest session – two of which were 3 year old twins – but I was prepared with my secret weapon! In the beginning, we tried some traditional posing, but when they started getting restless, I knew it was time to bring a little fun to our session with some candids. However, there was a huge storm in our area the day before and the grass was completely soaked. Normally, I would encourage the kids to let loose (run, jump, roll around), but I didn’t want muddy children on my hands – and neither did their mom. So I laid out a blanket and let brothers do, what brothers do best: capturing it all using burst mode! Let’s just say the twins had a blast ganging up on their big brother. But by the look of it, it seems he secretly enjoyed it too! Take a look…
Life with Kaishon - Oh my goodness.
I love these so much : )
I will absolutely tweet this for you!
Pink Ronnie - These are awesome Maddy! Mmm, I should try your secret weapon with my boys too. Even with only two of them running around (thank goodness the baby is still immobile) I find it next to impossible to get decent shots!
Ronnie xo
Leia - These pictures are amazing! And soooo adorable! Please travel to India and take my wedding pictures when I have my reception :)
tinajo - I agree about the praying, haha! Yes, I do try to do that as often as possible since my boys always are on the move. It wouldn´t hardly be any pics if I waited for them to stop and sit still – and frankly I prefer the pics that show them as they are. I love your pic here! :-)
Amy - What fun! And I love that last one …
Cafe Fashionista - I am literally in love with these photographs, Maddy! I so adore the way you’ve captured the youth, innocence, and playfulness of the subjects – too perfect!! :)
