No celebrity passing has saddened me as much as the sudden death of the incomparable Whitney Houston. It’s true that she had her many struggles, but I loved her nonetheless. So many of my favorite memories revolve around her songs: singing “Greatest Love of All” with my cousins, watching The Bodyguard with my mom, jamming to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” with my friends. She’s one of those rare voices that literally sent chills down my spine – time and time again. In the light of her passing, everyone is sharing their favorite Whitney memory/song and I, too, would like to share mine. I cried watching this tonight because it’s how I will always remember her: beautiful, vivacious and with a voice rivaled by no other. Though we have lost one of the greatest singers of our time, heaven has gained another beautiful angel for its choir. Rest in Peace Whitney.

Buckeroomama - I found out on FB. What a sad, sad loss. I grew up singing her songs.
Tiera - I’m so heartbroken. When I was younger I wanted to be a singer, and she was absolutely my idol. I’ll miss her terribly.
Life with Kaishon - I am so saddened by her death. I so wish she would have been able to overcome those drug demons.
Maddy {Mad Hearts Photography} - I grew up “performing” Whitney songs for my parents I must have sang the “Greatest Love of All” a 1000x times :)
Maddy {Mad Hearts Photography} - I know me too. But that’s the slippery grip of drug addiction…well, any addiction of that matter. I hope that at the very least, in light of this this tragedy, many more will get the help they need before it’s too late.
camille - i’m also deeply sad by her passing… i grew up listening to her songs, and she’s my mother’s favorite singer. So to see my mother’s grief and a great star die only made this day gloomy but also made us value our precious God given days.
Amy - It just breaks my heart. Her poor mama and daughter . . . I pray they all find peace . . .
Cafe Fashionista - What a beautiful tribute, Maddy. I was so upset to hear this news today. RIP. :(
Audrey Allure - I just heard about it this morning! It’s so sad.. :(
chavonne - There are few celeb deaths I think have personally touched me. For some reason Heath Ledger (i think because he was so young, and had a little girl, and I thought him and Michelle looked liked a good couple, from the outside at least). There are probably some others that dont come to mind right now but Whitney is now on that list. I think b/c I know people who are/were addicts and I personally know how it affects those around them and then to see the person lose the struggle… idk…its just sad
Sabine - It came as such a shock hearing the news this morning. I don’t connect her to personal memories, but she she was such a gifted person… It’s very very sad.
Leia - I was really shocked when I woke up and heard the news yesterday. She has always been one of my favorite singers. The world has lost a true talent.
Camila Faria - What a voice! She was truly a gifted woman!
Elle sees - If you can listen to her sing the Star Bangled Banner without goosebumps or tears, then you aren’t an American. Am I right? Such a talent and loss.
Sarah - Dodeline Design - I remember that too – I Wanna Dance with Somebody was one of my first CD’s. Such incredible talent and a beautiful woman…she will be missed!
Nadette@Eat, Read, Rant! - I’m rarefly affected by celebrity passings, but Whitney is definitely different. I remember my mom playin her vinyl records in the 80, and dancing around the house to “so emotional”. I can’t believe she’s gone :(
