First looks are all the rage in the world of wedding photography. It’s when the bride and groom catch a glimpse of each other before the wedding ceremony. Not only is it a great opportunity to capture the emotions of seeing each other for the first time without the pressure of a room full of people, it alleviates some of the timeline issues people have when planning time for pictures throughout an already busy wedding day. Tanja and Zach opted to do a first look for their wedding- a “first” for me too! They wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests coming in from all parts of the country, so it was definitely the best option for them. Not only were the moments before and after the big “reveal” so sweet, we had ample time afterwards to drive around for some different shots of the couple and their wedding party. All these photos were taken right before the ceremony. It’s amazing how many different locations we were able to visit in such a short time, leaving plenty of time after the ceremony to share with family and friends.
Life with Kaishon - She is beautiful.
I am glad you got to do one and you loved it.
Fabaroni.
Keeley @ My Life on a Plate - I love this “first look” idea! I’ve seen this done before, but I’ve never heard that term.
Some of my older family members are appalled by the idea of breaking tradition and having the groom see the bride prior to the ceremony. I think it’s so much better to take the photos before your makeup is cried out and without the pressure of having to rush back to a reception. When you plan a beautiful wedding in a beautiful location and spend big $$$ on photography you should be relaxed enough to get the photos you want. I remember feeling rushed at my wedding and not getting the photos I wanted with the people I wanted as a result. Great post!
Amy - What awesome backdrops!
Tanja - I love all these photos so much. Its amazing how different and unique the chimney rock pictures came out through the camera’s perspective versus seeing the whole thing in real life. (With the 2 rocks walls it made the photos so intimate.) Great job.
Tiera - These photos are so great! And the concept is interesting. There’s a lot of fun and tradition with waiting for the bride to walk down the aisle before the groom sees her, but this can be so wonderful too. Not only is it efficient, but it creates a beautiful private moment for the bride & groom to share <3
Gloria - Awww that first photo is so sweet! I’m so glad we opted to do a First Look shoot too – seeing Hubs before the ceremony definitely helped calm my nerves :-)
