Finally back after almost three weeks of being off the grid. October had so many wonderful moments, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that they were quickly overshadowed by the terrible hurricane that destroyed my beloved home state. Despite living without electricity among millions of others, I am so grateful that a few cold days and nights was the very worst we had to endure and that my home and loved ones are safe and sound. As I’m sure you know by now, many parts of New Jersey and New York were completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, in particular the Jersey Shore. Many loved ones lost and hundred of homes and business gone in the blink of an eye. While I heard bits and pieces of the devastation on the radio while there was still no power, nothing could prepare me for the images I saw online. And what’s worse is that the nightmare is still not over. So many homes and business are still without electricity, including gas stations, which has become a BIG problem of its very own. Public transportation has come to a screeching halt as many tunnels flooded and equipment damaged due to the water . It’s really a mess! I know we’ll get through this, but we’ll need all the help we can get. Since this disaster is close to my heart, I’ll be doing everything in my power to support the rebuilding efforts and help in every way I can. I will also do my best to keep you posted (especially via Facebook) on the ways you too can lend a hand.

Keeley @ My Life on a Plate - I’m still shocked by all the damage from Sandy… a damaging hurricane in New Jersey? That’s insane. I’m very, very concerned about global warming. I can only imagine the destruction you’ve seen.
On another note, I absolutely loved your Halloween costume.
