When I shared Chavonne + Otilio’s maternity session on Sunday, I also posted a link to a session I had with their family over two years ago – and I couldn’t help but marvel at the difference! At the time, it was one of my favorite sessions and even now, this family picture is still one of my very favorite candid moments. I can see that my shooting style was already in formation here, but the editing….oh boy! The colors are over saturated, skin tones are off , there’s too much contrast… do I continue? I’ve learned a lot since then (especially that less is more when it comes to editing!) and my hope is to look back two years from now and see how far I’ve come from today’s photos. But here’s the thing: we all start somewhere. Whenever I find myself playing the comparison game, I look through my archives and embrace the progress. That’s what inspires me to continue to grow, learn and love photography. I also like to keep the RAW files so I can play around with images at a later date and apply all the new things that I learn to old favorites.
Keeley - This is one of my favorite photos! You may see some flawed editing, but I see warmth and closeness.
Amy - Oh dear, I am totally guilty of over-saturation. It’s like I can’t help myself. Maybe someday I’ll be able to look back and see how far I’ve come . . . :)
P.S.–I’m with Keeley, I love this photo even with the flawed editing!
Maddy {Mad Hearts Photography} - Literally laughed out loud :) Oversaturation… #photographerproblems
Nadette - I don’t see flaws, I see love. Definitely one of my favorite pics of yours.
