PORTRAIT OF THE WEEK // 6
52 Faces Project • Yami

It’s Week 6 of the 52 Faces Project and I’m thrilled that I haven’t dropped the ball on this!  This week I had the pleasure of photograoghing Yami….in midday sun! I would’ve NEVER dared to do that when I started I first started off a few years ago.  Midday sun usually means raccoon eyes and harsh shadows.  But the key is to place your subject in an open shaded area and a reflector placed directly in front of your subject bouncing indirect light back on to their face.  I used my collapsible reflector in this case, but snow is an awesome natural reflector if you don’t have a reflector handy.

Sarah - It’s so cool to hear how you’ve progressed into new territory since you started – I have NO idea how to photograph in any light whatsoever :-) Beautiful as always!

Maddy {Mad Hearts Photography} - I think that’s one of the coolest things about blogging! I love seeing how all of my blog buddies are progressing in their areas of expertise- yourself included! I loved watching your business grow from online based to your designs being in brick & mortar shops and then having a physical office space ! You are truly an inspiration :)

Life with Kaishon - Oh yes! I love the snow as a reflector! Now, I do not love it so much when I have to shovel it, but it does make for nice light effects. This picture looks almost beachy! You did a beautiful job. Yami has a lovely smile. So peaceful. Very beautiful!
