Watchung, NJ - Child Photography Session

Usually when I photograph kids, it’s in a family session setting with a sibling or two. But this session was just for Sara (and her puppy Princess) and I felt like I was able to capture all the layers of her vibrant personality: smart, sassy and super sweet! I loved my one-on-one time with this beautiful and intelligent young lady. Even though we were towards the end of November for this session, I really wanted to capture the warmth she exudes, so I played around with some light leaks in post processing for that golden glow/ ethereal effect that I feel goes perfectly with this shoot. And the best part: we didn’t have to go far for this location – the whole session took place in their backyard!

#MADHEARTS365
A Daily Photo Project • January 2015

This year I challenged myself with a “365 Day” photo project. Some of my favorite photographer friends do this already and I really wanted to give it a try not only as a way to document my personal comings and goings, but so that I can keep the creative juices flowing all year round! Even though as a whole this month didn’t start the year off on the high note that I envisioned, we still have 11 months to go and hopefully things will only go up from here, right?

Highlights: weekend getaway to the Adirondacks, snow days, spending loads of family time!
Lowlights: cracking my front tooth…ouch!

Goals for February: Get more creative with my 365 project photos!

THE R FAMILY
Montclair, NJ - Family Photography Session

This was the third year in a row that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this family! Even though I love capturing new faces and meeting new people in my business, there’s nothing like photographing families that have been with me from the beginning. I loved getting the surprise message from clients: “It’s time for our yearly photos!! And we are a family of four now!” “Don’t tell anyone just yet, but we’re eloping!” “We are having a baby!” “We adopted a puppy!”etc… So even though I’ve captured some of the same faces throughout the years, every session is different as the kids get older and new members are added to the mix. I feel blessed to capture the changes and precious memories for my families year after year! A few favorites from this year’s session with the R Family and their newest addition little Miss Evelyn Claire.
