VIRTUALLY YOURS…
A Virtual Blog Tour

My dear friend Becky tagged me on this virtual blog tour.  I always feel a little awkward answering questions about myself and my photography journey, but there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for this special lady, so here goes!

What am I working on?  Summer and fall are my busiest time of year! The weather is warm and everyone wants to have their pictures taken.  I’m shooting pretty much every kind of session there is: maternity, family, teen, glamour, etc… I love the variety and I love that each one challeges in different ways.

How does my work differ from others of it’s genre?  Thankfully I’ve come a long way in my photography journey and there’s still so much more left for me to learn! But if I had to describe my work to others, I’d say it’s fresh, clean and classic. I’m not huge on props, editing trends and other gimmicks. My goal is t0 create portraits that will stand the test of time.

Why do I create what I do? One of my most painful childhood memories involved someone telling me I looked too ugly for pictures. I was crushed and from that day forward, always feared being in front of the camera.  I never want a person that has been in front of my lens to see anything else than the beautiful person I see before me. I create what I do because love being able to capture that hidden spark that makes us so unique and special in our very own way.

How does your creativity process work?  For me, creativity takes place in the moment! I always go into a shoot with a game plan, but almost always my favorite shots occur at the spur of the moment when something strikes my fancy. It could be that beautiful light is pouring in.  Sometimes, it’s an unexpected exchange between my subjects or a beautiful location I happen to stumble upon.  The key is to be present and always have the camera ready at any time!

Life with Kaishon - Maddy! This was so interesting. I loved your answers. I always learn something new about you every time I visit. I can’t believe anyone would ever say that about you and pictures. When I met you, I thought you were one of the most beautiful girls I had ever seen. You aren’t just beautiful on the outside either. You are beautiful through and through. I love how you treat others. I love how you see the world. You are a wonder.

Believe it or not, I came over here to post a link to your blog on my facebook page because I LOVE the boy picture you posted of the boy.

You are my favorite : ). Someday you are going to be famous and I will be screaming from the sidelines that I knew you way back when! : )

Elly - Wow, that person who told you you looked too ugly for pictures was telling massive fibs! I can’t believe someone would be that hurtful to someone else. I love that you’ve taken that experience as a lesson and are applying it in your day -to-day work. High five, you :)

PORTRAIT OF THE WEEK // 14
52 Faces Project • Gina

DSC_7543 WebWhen I would direct Gina to give me a little smile, she just couldn’t do it! Her eyes seemed to instantly light up and the biggest, warmest smile would spread across her face!  It’s was a big smile or no smile with Gina – I absolutely loved that! To read more about the 52 Faces Project, check out this post. If you’d like to volunteer to be one of the faces for this project, email me at info@madheartsphotos.com.

AMANDA
Bloomfield, NJ - Modeling Headshots

Amanda is one of those lucky girls who has it all: beauty, brains, a beautiful voice  and most importantly, a heart of gold! It was so great working with her on some new headshots for her modeling portfolio. And of course, I just had to take some glamour style photos of her as well while she was all dolled up!  I shared some behind the scenes info from our session in my last post if you’re interested in seeing my humble setup for this shoot. A few of my favorites:
