Last year I started the “Style Snapshot” posts as a way to share ideas on the latest trends and how to incorporate those looks into your photography session. This year I’m continuing with the feature with the help of my sister Cindy (a beauty and fashion blogger) and hopefully bring you some fun outfit inspiration. On our first look is not for the faint of heart! Faux fur (or the real stuff) may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a great way to add interest and texture to your outfit, while also being functional and providing warmth in the event that your session falls on a chilly day. If you’re worried about the faux fur adding bulk to your figure, opt for a vest with a waist cinching belt for a slimming effect. Another great way to incorporate the look is via accessories like a snood, gloves or footwear. I love that it’s versatile and can suit almost every fashion style: from ultra glam to boho chic!

I met Nataly on an overcast morning to photograph her portrait. Overcast days are absolutely perfect for shooting. This was one of the last pictures we took while in the parking deck . Probably the last place you’d think to shoot, but wherever there’s good light, that’s where you’ll find me. To read more about the 52 Faces Project, check out this post. If you’d like to volunteer to be one of the faces for this project, email me at info@madheartsphotos.com.

I could have sworn I already commented on this lovely image. I love her pretty hair and her sweet smile. What a beauty! Great job, Maddy! I don’t have very many personal resolutions, but one thing Kleber and I both agreed that we wanted to do this year was spend more quality with the nieces and nephews. Since we’re the only ones without kids on Kleber’s side of the family, they see us the least. And when they’re all together, it’s chaos central! So we knew we would have tackle the quality time on a one-by-one basis, starting with Miss Bells. For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you might remember that Isabella stayed with us for a little while. Or perhaps you recall the adorable dancing baby video – yup that’s her too! Honestly, nothing has changed! She’s still full of spunk, loves to dance and sing and is a total smartypants. She turned 4 last week and since we share a love for “theatrics”, I wanted to be the one to take her to her to see her first musical – Cinderella on Broadway. As expected, the gift was a hit, but my favorite memory from the day was this one while we were trying to kill sometime before the show started. We went to buy some snacks at the drugstore and Miss Bells begged for a little makeup makeover. So I found the lightest shade of pink gloss, shadow and blush I could find. She was too short to reach the mirror, so Kleber had to lift her up for the big reveal. Her face….priceless!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! A drug store makeover. Look how stunning she is. I love that you are going to spend one on one time with the kids. They will treasure that always. |
Amy - Bea-u-tiful! And I love to see how others shake things up a bit when it comes to fashion . . .
Cindy - I had a blast during this photo shoot with you Maddy! Faux fur will also be in style!! xoxo
Sarah - She is so gorgeous! I have never worn faux fur, might be too adventurous for me, but she is rocking it :-)
