After a weekend of unapologetic “girl power”, this session couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Jesmalis and Lismary are two sisters that embody that very concept. I left the session so in love with these girls: their personalities, incredible talents, kind spirit, but especially, their love for each other. Originally, we had scheduled the session for Jesmalis senior photos, but when little sister Lismary came along, I just had to get her in some shots as well. I just loved taking photos of the two of them together! I hope they remain this close and loving with one another for the rest of their lives. Having two sisters myself whom I adore, I know from personal experience that there’s no better friend than your sister.

I was in that awkward phase of my business: busy enough that I could use an extra pair of hands to help run my day-to-day operations, but still small enough that I couldn’t afford to hire an assistant. Or if you’re anything like me, too much of a control freak to trust anyone to the task! A lot of what I do is not the actual picture taking for clients. It mostly involves communication – prior to the session/event and afterwards. Even though I’m a one woman operation, I want to make sure I treat each of my clients like they are the only ones and this is where 17Hats came into play. And in case you’re wondering, this is not a sponsored post (I wish!). This is something I’ve used for the last two years and it’s been a life saver. It’s the best investment I’ve made in my business thus far and so, I’m happy to share my thoughts with you if it could help yours too! My baby turned three months on Saturday. I’ve been taking his monthly progress pictures since month one (haven’t shared them here because I’m just starting to get my act together with the blog!), but this is the first time I’ve gotten teary eyed while taking them. Month to month there’s been so many changes, but this is the first time I could really see his little personality shine through. He wasn’t just sitting there, kinda slumped over like he had the last two months. He was an actual little person smiling back at me and engaging with me and the camera. Laughing and smiling when cued. I couldn’t help but get emotional that I was a part of forming this little person sitting before me and that I would be responsible for shaping the person he will become some day. It’s been a remarkable three months. I’ve loved every single minute of it and wouldn’t change it for the world. And even though it’s sad to see the months pass by so quickly, I love watching him grow and become so darn cute! Just when I think he can’t get any cuter, I take his latest monthly picture and I fall in love all over again.
